What I write
I write children's fiction for age 8-12 (middlegrade) and 12+ (teen). Usually fantasy, either funny or magical or both. I write picturebook texts too, and some funny rhymes.
My children's fiction has won several prizes, judged by editors and agents at the Winchester Writers' Conference with one script described as 'fantastically anarchic' and 'packed full of humour', and another 'pacy and engaging.'
I was long listed and an honorary mention in one of SCBWI BI's Undiscovered Voices competitions with a MG comedy: Malisse In Shudderlande.
From the SCBWI Slushpile Challenge: "...wonderful middle-grade voice and set up intriguing concepts..." for Matilda Curioso, The Ghosts Of Hazard House, judged by Literary Agent Gemma Cooper
SCBWI Chalkface Challenge, The Beast Of Roachcock Hall - comments from children:
It is heart-pounding. There was a weapon in his pocket. He is in heavy disguise. It left me thinking, what will happen next?
Megan
Funny and cool, I really enjoyed it.
Harry
I could picture everything in my head and I want to read on.
